The Potts Point Partnership have engaged art advisor James Dorahy to organise an art program for this year’s Kings Cross Festival. The initiative aims to raise public awareness of the art on offer locally and is due to launch 9 -12 October. The art program includes a profile exhibition, studio visits, artist talks, an art walk, an instagram competition, and Art After Dark, a special outdoor event for Saturday 11 October at the Australian Institute of Architects at Tusculum in Manning Street Potts Point.
The art program will demonstrate the contribution the galleries of the area make to the local community’s culture and show that galleries are a drawcard that bring a diverse range of people in to the area.
Somewhere City is the profile exhibition of the art program for the 2014 Kings Cross Festival. Photographer Tim Denoodle explores the strange forces that shape our city and asks why the streets and skies of Sydney could exist in no other place. The exhibition runs from 3 October – 2 November at Gallery Mercure and will also be part of the Art & About Sydney 2014 Associated Events program.
